LONDEN 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES
Epke Zonderland took a historic performance at the London Olympic Games on Tuesday 7 August 2012. This has caused a rare flood of reactions in the media for Dutch notions.
Reporters were on the spot, officials were in tears, journalists described it in lyrical terms and columnists contributed to give Epke Zonderland the place in the Olympic history he deserves.
The images of the finals spread throughout the world, live on TV and on the front page of the major newspapers. Photographer Klaas Jan van der Weij was like no other able to show the quality of the performance of Epke, and created a true piece art, assembled from the 713 photographs he made during the finals.
The idea was to capture this legendary performance in a 104 pages thick book titled Gouden Epke (Golden Epke). The book contains the most beautiful pictures of Klaas Jan, comments and texts of journalists, officials, family and more.
