An impressive and confronting time document, in which the painful consequences of the global economic crises, that transfixed the world since 2008, are recorded.
Through the eyes of graphic designer Richard Sluijs – in the beginning a relative outsider in a country that seemed to escape the conspiracy – the personal grief that affected many, was portrayed in a monumental way. A collection of stories from people who could no longer endure their misery, and saw suicide as the only way out of their problems.
The book is a memoriam for all the victims of the crisis, and at the same time it is a critical response to the message that politicians, bankers and economists propagate that the rigorous austerity policy pays off and everything will soon be back to the old. For many next of kin, life will never be the same again and unfortunately this became a sad reality for the writer as well after 6 years of research and when the book was almost finished.
