Photographer Hessel Bosch has a lens for a third eye. Having worked according to 'the rules' within professional photography for almost half a century, in his free work the only rule is that there are no rules.
Hessel travels all over the world for his urban photo series, looking for hidden treasures under the dust of history. He sees beauty in things someone else barely notices, no detail escapes or nuance escapes him. His passion for industrial, cultural and architectural heritage gives the past a new dimension: raw, rugged, pure and naked.
Besides his urban series, Hessel also shoots portraits. He searches for the right atmosphere, background, angle and incidence of light while making sure that the person portrayed forgets that the camera is pointed at them.
'Hessel' offers an overview of photographer Hessel Bosch's idiosyncratic free work.
