EXPECTED: Ferrari V12 2+2
The idea for this book took shape about ten years ago, driven by author Natan Tazelaar’s desire to document one of the most overlooked yet significant chapters in Ferrari’s history: the Ferrari V12 2+2 - from the 250 GTE in 1960 to the GTC4Lusso, which went out of production in 2020. ‘Ferrari V12 2+2’ is the first book to document the complete evolution of the Ferrari V12 2+2 production cars, a subject that has never before been covered in its entirety.
The Ferrari V12 2+2 models remain among the most underrated, yet also among the most important cars the company has ever produced, particularly during Ferrari’s early decades. These Grand Tourers with front-mounted V12 engine and four seats (2+2), have an understated elegance, combined with engineering developed alongside Ferrari’s Formula 1 programme, created a lineage that deserves far greater recognition than it has traditionally received.
Photographer Ingmar Timmer complements Natan’s extensive research with newly commissioned photography. Designers and executives including Andrea Pininfarina, Leonardo Fioravanti, Lorenzo Ramaciotti, Pietro Camardella and Filippo Sappino share their perspectives on shaping Ferrari’s elegant four-seater grand tourers, while veteran engineers such as Franco Cimatti, Paolo Martinelli and Nicola Materazzi provide invaluable insights into the development, engineering and testing of the marque’s most traditional models.
Ferrari V12 2+2 will be printed in a limited run of 749 copies. This number refers to the policy established by Enzo Ferrari, which the company still follows today: to sell one car less than the market demands.
