In ‘Cremer, schilder van de zee’ (Cremer, painter of the sea) we can find the most recently made maritime works by painter Jan Cremer. Most of these paintings have never been seen in the Netherlands before.
You can feel that the painter is familiar with the sea. From the North Sea to Archangel and from Sahara Storm to Cape Cod, everywhere the sea looks different. It takes the hand of a master to be able to show that. The paintings are Jan Cremer's memories of seas that he frequently conveys. He sculpts the sea in thick layers of paint, with a unique expressionist bluntness.
