Dutch photographer, filmmaker and writer Corbino aims to move people with his work. His personal and striking portraits are carved in crispy black and white, interspersed with some remarkable colour photographs. From the homeless to the queen, from singer Hazes to conductor Van Zweden, they all pass his review; no one escapes Corbino's gaze. Many of the portraits by this self-taught photographer have become icons of Dutch portrait photography.
In 'Corbino's Bijbel' (Corbino's Bible), 40 years of portraits and encounters are brought together in ten biblical chapters. The beautiful photographs are accompanied by texts that give meaning to the oeuvre and the origins of this vicar's son. The series of references to the Old and New Testament do justice to the title. From pride as the greatest threat to infinite empathy for others, all these are themes that are interwoven in Corbino's life and work.
