This book tells the story of five friends who took on the challenge of making wine on Dutch sea clay from home-grown grapes. They had no training or experience in viticulture but were passionate and determined to make their dream come true. They started with a small piece of land and kept expanding the vineyard. They worked hard, ploughing and planting, and with the help of experienced vintners in the area, they eventually managed to pick their first harvest and bottle their own wine.
'Avendorp, maturing dreams' is a report about their quest to realise their dream. They recorded the past six years in text and photography. In the book, you will also find their favourite vineyard dishes, composed with love by chefs Marijn Pool and Joeri Quax, with products straight from the land and fresh herbs from the vineyard.
Young vines often do not yet show their full potential. Therefore, it is a tremendous achievement that De Avendorp Johanniter 2023 won the Wine Census of the Low Countries bronze medal in September 2024.
The collector's release comes in a 75-copy edition. The deluxe linen box includes the book, a wine glass, and a bottle of wine from the first award-winning harvest.
